Mesenchymal stem cells are the main cells that make up all tissues and organs in our body. There are many different types of cells in an organ. Stem cells, when there is damage to cells in tissues or organs, can turn into those cells to repair organs and tissues. They have the ability to divide limitlessly. In fact, stem cells are constantly active, continuously renewing our entire body or providing treatment to the necessary areas. When directed collectively to a specific area, they facilitate its healing.
Today, it has been found that in adipose tissues in our body, significantly more stem cells can be easily obtained than from bone marrow. Similarly, it has been discovered that tissues taken from our body can also be multiplied in the laboratory. Thus, Stem Cells have become usable in the treatment of almost all diseases.
Mesenchymal Stem Cell Production We work with laboratories that have completed inspections by the Ministry of Health for the production of Mesenchymal Stem Cells from Umbilical Cord under the control, and obtained operational permits.
Where Are Mesenchymal Stem Cells Found?
Mesenchymal Stem Cells are found in many places in the organism. However, the most common places they are found are: bone marrow, adipose tissue, dental pulp, placenta, amniotic fluid, and umbilical cord.
What is Umbilical Cord?
The umbilical cord is a structure that is discarded with the placenta immediately after birth and feeds the baby throughout pregnancy, providing all communication between the mother and the child. It has a diameter of 1-2 cm and a length of 10-50 cm. It is made of a gelatinous tough tissue (Wharton’s Jelly) through which three vessels pass, one vein and two arteries.
In Which Diseases Are Mesenchymal Stem Cells Obtained from Umbilical Cord Used?
They can be used in the treatment of diseases resulting from damage to tissues and organs developed from mesenchymal cells such as bone, cartilage, adipose tissue, nerve, and connective tissue. Their use to prevent the body from rejecting the new organ in organ transplants is approved by all institutions including the FDA. In addition, research is being conducted domestically and internationally with FDA and EMA-approved clinical studies to investigate their use in diseases such as cerebral palsy, autism, hearing loss in children, Type-I diabetes, as well as neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s; autoimmune diseases such as MS (multiple sclerosis), rheumatoid arthritis, and osteogenesis imperfecta.
How Long Can the Umbilical Cord Be Stored?
While it is known that the umbilical cord can be stored for many years in a liquid nitrogen tank at -196°C, regulations regarding this have not yet been issued. However, considering the fact that embryos and other cells can be stored for many years without deterioration, it can be assumed that the umbilical cord can also be stored for the same duration.
Why Should We Store the Umbilical Cord?
In addition to storing umbilical cord blood, storing the umbilical cord itself provides an advantage as it contains different types of cells and contributes to the treatment of different diseases. Since there are no hematopoietic (blood-forming) stem cells in the gelatinous substance that forms the umbilical cord, unlike in umbilical cord blood, it is not used in diseases such as leukemia and lymphoma. On the other hand, Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) can be used in the treatment of various diseases (such as Tissue Incompatibility Disease mentioned above) compared to cord blood.
MSCs are also present in cord blood but in much smaller quantities compared to umbilical cord. Obtaining MSCs from bone marrow requires a surgical procedure under anesthesia that can be painful. MSCs in cord tissue are the easiest, safest, and painless to obtain compared to other sources. It is sufficient to collect and store a part of the umbilical cord after birth.
Most importantly, Mesenchymal Stem Cells found in the cord are young and have not yet been exposed to environmental harmful factors.

As an autistic woman , this makes me feel sick , autism is not a disease we don’t need a cure
Of course you don’t need it. But not every autism patient is at the same level as you. We are here to help people who cannot meet their own daily needs!
